Jamshedpur, May 13: BJP leader Dinesh Kumar, Bhojpuri Navchetna Manch president Appu Tiwary, hundreds of activists and neglected temporary workers of company met the Labor Superintendent on Friday to register their protest against the alleged assault on demonstrating laborers by the management, security officers and bouncers of Steel Strip Wheels company in Govindpur.
They also submitted a 12-point charter of demands, including action against the company management. In the absence of DLC the memorandum was submitted to labor superintendent.
The agitators gave them an ultimatum till Tuesday.
Kumar insisted on strict action against the Steel Strip Wheels company and asked the labor department to not to save the culprits else the matter would be taken to Labor Commissioner in Ranchi and to the state labor minister. On his part, labor superintendent Marandi assured the demonstrators of an investigation into the matter and action by May 17.
Significantly, even after one month of the incident and filing of the FIR, no action has been taken on the complaint of the laborers.
At the event, Kumar said wrong strategy of the company management and administration has gripped the workers with fear and hunger, which is showing on them. Although several demand memorandums have been submitted on the issue, the senior officials have not bothered to respond.
The workers have been shown the door by false accusations leveled on them are facing difficult time to earn bread for their living. Kumar said that exploitation of workers will not be tolerated and if management doesn’t wake up we will be forced to block the company gate.
Appu Tiwary said Satyagrah abhiyan which has been launched in support of laborers, which will continue till they get justice.
