Jamshedpur, May 9: In protest against the alleged assault on demonstrating laborers by the management, security officers and bouncers of Steel Strip Wheels company in Govindpur, BJP leader Dinesh Kumar and Bhojpuri Navchetna Manch president Appu Tiwary led a massive sit-in protest against the company management in support of the laborers on Monday.
The protestors had given 48 hours ultimatum to the district officials to act against the company management and seeing no action has being taken even after 489 hours, they protested before the company gate.
On the occasion Appu Tiwary, said, the wrong policy of the company and inaction of police administration has led to this protest which is also getting support of BJP leader Dinesh Kumar. Satyagrah abhiyan has been launched in support of laborers, which will continue till they get justice.
Addressing the gathering, BJP leader Dinesh Kumar said, wrong strategy of the company management and administration has threatened the workers with fear and hunger which is showing on them. Although several demand memoranda have been submitted on the issue, the senior officials have not bothered to respond.
The workers have been shown the doors by false accusations put on them are facing difficult time to earn bread for their living. Kumar said that exploitation of workers will not be tolerated and if management doesn’t wake up we will be forced to block the company gate.
The protest started at 12 noon, which continued till 2 p.m. and following this the local police station in-charge intervened in the matter and later HR Head of the company assured to look into the matter. A 10-point charter of demands was submitted to the managing director of the company and gave them an ultimatum of 72 hours to give decision in favor of the workers.
