Ranchi, May 9: Chief secretary Rajbala Verma on Monday directed deputy development commissioners to construct more dovas by end of June with a view to restore water. She said that they should be constructed on PPP mode so that target could be achieved.
It may be noted that 6 lakh dovas are to be made out of which, 30 percent are to be completed by the end of June. She said it while addressing deputy development commissioners and district project officers through video conferencing during the review meeting of construction of dovas and ponds.
Moreover, she said that as per MGNREGA scheme, deputy commissioner will responsible for completion of work. Warning to take administrative action against lax officers, she directed the deputy development commissioners and district project officers to identify those rojgar sevaks who are not doing their work sincerely and furnish short notice to those rojgar sevaks. She asked the officials to sack those rojgar sevaks who are creating less than 50 percent employment.
Verma said that the responsibility of POs should be fixed and payment of those POs who donít work properly should be withheld till they show the result.
The CS directed to identify 50 such panchayats where employment is not generated properly. Such areas should be identified and various works should be initiated under MGNREGA to ensure maximum employment of the active workers. Verma said that the percentage of pending payment is 20% which should be minimized to 5 percent. Workers whose account is not opened with any bank should be opened.
Verma said that the districts where the performance is not up to the mark will have to sit for a meeting after 10 days with a view to review the work. She said that action will be taken on irresponsible officers.
RDD Secretary N. N. Sinha and MGNREGA commissioner Siddharth Tripathi were present in the meeting.
