Steel and Fire Safety day observed at Tata Steel

Jamshedpur, April 14: April 14th is celebrated as Fire Safety Day in India and the World Steel Association has also declared this Day / Week as World Steel Safety Day starting from April 14th to April 20th.

The World Steel Safety Day is set up to reinforce awareness of the most common causes of Safety incidents and to create a safer working environment across the entire steel industry worldwide.

As part of its initiatives, Tata Steel has requested every department in the Company including Profit Centres, Raw Material locations and Kalinganagar Project to carry out the process safety audit and mitigate the risks associated with the processes and put all mitigating measures permanently in place during the week.

At the end of the week long program, the aim will be to see that the measures are sustained throughout the year.

Safety competitions, Best Safety Improvement Projects, Firefighting and Rescue Management competitions, Quizzes, Fire Safety at Home programs are being organised.

Training will also be imparted on effective use of Fire extinguisher amongst contractor employees. The Closing function will be held on April 20, 2015.
