Ranchi, Sept. 9: Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma said that efforts should be accelerated to equip all panchayats with Internet connectivity.
In the review meeting of IT and e-Governance held today, the CS directed that pending surveys of Bharat Net should be completed to connect all panchayats with internet connectivity.
Verma said that electric poles should be surveyed and work plan should be made to use them for connecting panchayats with Internet.
DPR should be made for the districts having completed G.I.S. mapping work. The CS was told that the work of laying optical fibre cable (OFC) had been completed in the 1266 panchayats. District e-Governance Society will be provided budget for connecting panchayats with net and its maintenance.
The CS said that smart class should be started in at least one school in the panchayats where Bharat Net has access. Work-plan should be made to construct a studio in districts and department so that mukhiyas and other society members could be contacted on requirement.
The CS said that the ongoing construction works in district for STPI should be completed and tender should be floated for schemed work.
The department said that construction has been started in Jamshedpur and Sindri and tender is being floated again for Deoghar. T.C.I.L., a Govt. of India enterprise has submitted proposal for OFC laying.
If this project becomes successful, it will be nominated in five other big cities. During the review, the CS said that all executive engineers and assistant engineers should be given tabs and net connectivity for doing online billing. She directed the department to do online billing of 400 divisions.
The departmental secretary said that two tabs have been proposed to be given in each division. Tender will be floated in this regard and tabs distribution will be ensured by 15 November.
Tabs will be connected with tab trekking system. The IT Secretary informed that admission for IIIT has been started and 36 students have registered their names so far. The CS directed to construct siege on the land transferred for constructing IIIT and plant seedlings on it.
IT and e-Governance Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal and other departmental officers were present in the meeting.
