Jamshedpur, Nov 18: In a significant development aimed at improving healthcare facilities for residents of Kolhan, the MGM Medical College Hospital and Sadar Hospital are set to undergo major upgrades. The new buildings being constructed at both hospitals will offer a comprehensive range of services under one roof, ensuring that patients have access to a variety of healthcare services, including OPD, indoor care, and crucial diagnostic tests such as pathology and radiology, without having to move between different locations.

The new hospital at the MGM College campus in Dimna Chowk, along with the modernized Sadar Hospital, are expected to begin operations by March 31, 2025. These facilities are part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the region and provide better services to the residents of Jamshedpur and surrounding areas. “The new setup will provide integrated services at one location, allowing patients to receive comprehensive care from diagnosis to treatment without unnecessary delays or transfers,” said Dr. Diwakar Hansda, Principal of MGM Medical College.

One of the key features of the new hospital will be a centralized reception area where patients will be greeted and directed to the relevant departments based on their health needs. A hospital manager will be appointed to oversee the hospital’s operations, ensuring that all services run smoothly and efficiently. “The hospital manager will coordinate all aspects of patient care, from admission to treatment, making sure everything functions as intended,” Dr. Hansda added.

In the upgraded Sadar Hospital, all departments will be separate, ensuring better organization and a more streamlined patient experience. A centralized OPD will be set up to handle outpatient cases, while patients requiring indoor care will be treated in separate sections of the hospital. To ensure quick and efficient treatment, all patient records will be digitalized, allowing doctors to access crucial information instantly across departments. “We are working closely with doctors and staff to ensure that every department has the necessary facilities to provide quality care,” stated Dr. Sahir Pal, Civil Surgeon of East Singhbhum.

In preparation for the new hospital’s opening, the hospital management has taken steps to clear outdated and non-functional equipment. The auction process for 153 pieces of defective equipment, including ECG machines, ICU beds, OT tables, and other medical devices, has been completed. This is part of a larger effort to modernize the hospital’s infrastructure. “We are committed to ensuring that only functional and state-of-the-art equipment will be available at the new facility,” said the hospital management.

Both the new MGM hospital at Dimna Chowk and the revamped Sadar Hospital will offer high-quality healthcare services, with a special focus on catering to patients from rural areas. “Our aim is to provide better healthcare access, especially to people from rural parts of the region, by offering modern healthcare facilities close to home,” said Dr. Hansda.

To support the smooth functioning of these new setups, the hospital management has requested proposals for increasing the workforce. This step is crucial to ensure that the hospitals can handle the increased patient load and maintain the high standard of care expected. (w/nkm)
