Ranchi/Jamshedpur, August 8: Tata Steel Foundation was felicitated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Govt. of Jharkhand, in Ranchi today under the ‘Community Support to TB patients’ – Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA).
Ni-Kshay Mitra(Donor) for this program included co-operative societies, corporates, elected representatives, individuals, institutions, non-governmental organizations, political parties, and partners who complemented government’s efforts by adopting health facilities to accelerate the response against TB in coordination with the district administration.
In one year of the campaign, dated November 2023 to October 2024, Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) had adopted 24 blocks across Jharkhand and Odisha as part of the Ni-kshay Mitra project. The objective of this project was to support all consenting TB patients of the adopted blocks with ‘Monthly Food Basket Kit’.
As the campaign, a govt. of India initiative, focused on incentivizing private sector healthcare providers for notifying tuberculosis cases to the government, Dr. Anuj Bhatnagar, Head- Public Health and Mr. Amit Kumar, Head- Community Health cluster, Tata Steel Foundation were honoured by Shri. Banna Gupta, Minister of Health, Govt. of Jharkhand along with Shri. Ajay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Ministry of Health, Govt. of Jharkhand for their notable performance across all 8 blocks of Jharkhand.
The nikshay mitras worked relentlessly in spreading awareness about tuberculosis (TB) using educational kits provided by Tata Steel Foundation, identifying cases in all 8 blocks of Jharkhand as well as timely reporting these cases to the government health officials at the district level.
