Bambolim Athletic Stadium to be home ground of Men of Steel 

Eight-day quarantine before entering bubble

Jamshedpur, Sep 22: Star-studded Jamshedpur Football Club will arrive in Goa between 30 September and 2 October for eighth season of Indian Super League. Some Jamshedpur FC players, who are likely to be part of Indian team for the SAFF Championship to be held from October 1 to 16, will reach Goa at a later date. The pre-season for the Men of Steel will begin on October 10 and the players will have around 40 days to get acclimatize to the conditions before the first match of the season on which begins on November 21.

Tata Steel franchise made ISL debut in 2017 will be playing its fifth season and would like to turn things around with silverware finish. 

Last season, the club finished sixth on the points table, four points off four-placed FC Goa.

Jamshedpur FC management during media interaction at the club’s office in JRD Tata Sports Complex on Wednesday said, for second straight year ISL will be played in Goa due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The league is scheduled to start on November 17 while Jamshedpur FC will play its first match on November 21. Jamshedpur FC players will leave Jamshedpur for Goa on September 30 while players from their respective cities and foreign players will arrive in between September 30 to October 2. Players along with Club employees will have to remain under eight-day quarantine.

This time around Bambolim Athletic Stadium will be the home ground for Men of Steel. JFC will play away games at Tilak Maidan and Fatorda Stadium. 

According to  Mukul Choudhari, CEO, Jamshedpur Football Club, the training ground for JFC players will be Don Basco Ground, Panaji. JFC players will be put up at Taj Group’s Cidade de Goa and Dona Paula Hotel for the entire ISL.  

For the safety of the players from Covid infection, there will be a separate entry and exit gates at the hotel.

Choudhari further informed that home stadium from hotel is 15 minutes while the training ground is 20 minutes away. JFC players who will participate in ISL have been administered both doses of Covid vaccine. Players will have to produce RT-PCR report and they will not be allowed to have any kind of contact from outside. Whatever guidelines are there regarding Covid last year will be followed.

He said that most norms remain the same but there could be certain relaxations in terms of things like using the swimming pool. But no entry/exit allowed from the bio bubble. No outside interactions allowed. Same routine as last year will be followed to ensure safe and secure hotel to training and back, hotel to stadium and back.

Some JFC players to reach Goa after Oct 16

The 2021 SAFF Championship will be held in Maldives from October 1 to 16. Some Jamshedpur FC players who are likely to be part of Indian team for the Championship will reach Goa after October 16. According to the club management between two and four players of JFC will arrive later.

Defenders-Laldinliana Renthlei, Boris Singh, Laldinpuia PC, Peter Hartley, Eli Sabia, Anas Edathodika, Narender, Ricky Lallawmawma, Sandip Mandi and Karan Amin. Midfielders-Alex Lima, Greg Stewart, Pronay Halder, Mobashir Rahman, Jitendra Singh, Komal Thatal, Farukh Choudhary and Seiminlen Doungel. Forwards-Nerijus Valskis, Jordan Murray and Ishan Pandita
