SSP convenes crime meeting, drive against drunk driving to be focus

Jamshedpur, Jan. 11: Senior superintendent of police, East Singhbhum Anoop T Mathew has asked the officers–in-charge of traffic police stations and deputy superintendent of police (traffic) to conduct regular checking against the drunk driving in the city during a crime meeting held today.

The crime meeting which lasted for four hours from 1 pm was presided over by the SSP, Mathew and was attended by superintendent of police (city) Chandan Jha, all the deputy superintendents of police and officers-in-charge of the 17 police stations.

“The DSP (traffic) and officers-in-charge of all the five traffic police stations across the city have been instructed to hold special checking to apprehend those who tend to drive under the influence of liquor,” said Mathew.

The senior SP said that the fatal road mishap in the city has become almost regular. It is a matter of great concern.

“During investigation behind the mishap deaths, we find liquor behind deaths.Mishaps have to be stopped with the strict policing as well as by creating awareness among the commuters about the traffic rules,” said the senior police officers.

A senior police officer who attended the crime meeting said that incident thefts, especially the bike-lifting had figured during the crime meeting.

During the crime meeting, the cops discussed over the influx of fire-arms into the city and deliberated on how to detect the source of fire arms.
