Jamshedpur, Oct 16: The School of Sciences, Srinath University, celebrated World Food Day 2025 under the global theme “Nourishing Life Through Science.” The event highlighted the role of science in promoting nutrition, sustainability and healthy living.
Prof. Amar Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Jamshedpur Cooperative College, was the Chief Guest. Delivering a thought-provoking lecture on “Natural and Bioprocessed Food: A Biological Aspect,” Prof. Kumar emphasized the significance of balanced nutrition, sustainable food production practices and the importance of scientific innovation in improving human health and lifestyle.
The event commenced with a formal inauguration by Chief Guest Prof Amar Kumar, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) S.N. Singh and Registrar Dr. Mousumi Mahato in the presence of the organizing committee members Dr. Sumit Rastogi, Dr. Dolly Chakraborty, Dr. Pooja Gupta, Dr. Ojashwani Mohanta, Nilabja Banerjee, Megha Mete and Prerna Sinha. The Principal of the Department of Pharmacy also attended the function and extended his best wishes to the participants.
A major attraction of the celebration was the “No Fire Healthy and Tasty Food Stall Competition,” where students showcased their creativity by preparing six nutritious dishes without using fire. The dishes were evaluated based on nutritional content, presentation and innovation and the top three teams were awarded for their exceptional culinary efforts.
The event concluded on an inspiring note, spreading awareness about food science, nutrition and sustainable living. It encouraged students to adopt healthy eating habits and explore innovative, eco-friendly approaches to food preparation, aligning with the spirit of World Food Day 2025. (w/gsd)
