DC Lounge Attacks at Bistupur and Sakchi Branches: Saryu Roy Demands Strict Action, Probe into Bistupur Police Chief’s Role

Jamshedpur, Oct 16: West Jamshedpur MLA Saryu Roy has written to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) demanding strict action against the culprits involved in the planned vandalism at the DC Lounge branches in Bistupur and Sakchi. He has also called for a thorough investigation into the role of the Bistupur police chief in the incident.

In his letter, Saryu Roy stated that he visited the DC Lounge premises in Bistupur and Sakchi on Thursday afternoon and witnessed the aftermath of the vandalism. “The inhuman manner in which the Bistupur establishment was destroyed by a violent group is unimaginable. I immediately called from the site urging strict action against the culprits,” he said.

Rai added that locals described the rampant bullying and intimidation by a dominant group in the area, which harasses business owners, extorts them, and forces residents to either submit to them or leave the locality.

He further stated that at the Sakchi branch, around 100 citizens and business owners gathered to resist the same group, which had arrived from Bistupur. During the confrontation, five motorcycles of the attackers were left behind, which were supposed to be seized by Sakchi police for further action.

However, Rai alleged that the Bistupur police chief arrived with his team, scolded the gathered citizens, dispersed them, and allowed 7–8 individuals to start the abandoned motorcycles and leave. “By aiding the attackers and violating jurisdiction, the Bistupur police chief demonstrated complicity in this cruel attack and tarnished the duty of a responsible police officer,” Roy wrote.

The MLA emphasized that the police chief’s actions were as culpable as those of the attackers themselves. He urged the SSP to ensure prompt legal action against the culprits and initiate a formal probe into the conduct of the Bistupur police chief, with appropriate legal consequences.
