Srinath University observes ‘National Girl Child Day’ online

Jamshedpur, Jan 24: The National Girl Child Day was observed at Srinath University on Zoom App mode. The NSS cell of the University organized a started the programme with poster making competition that saw the participation of B Ed, D El Ed, BBA, MB.A, BCA,MCA and fine arts students of Srinath University. The participating students explained the thought behind making the posters. They also made a video presentation of the posters and purposes. The winners of the poster competition were Surabhi Mandal, Sahira Mohanta and Shaniya Praveen respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary of the University, Gurudev Mahato observed, “We should all try our level best to provide opportunities to the girl child for their all round development.” While discussing the sensitive topic of gender equality, Gurudev Mahto said, “It is a blatant injustice to deprive half of the population of the country of their rights and this is a reflection that highlights a major social bane.”

Professor In-charge, Bhavya Bhushan, while anchoring the programme, stated that the government was very serious of giving a girl child her rightful dues with programmes like ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao,’ and ‘Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana,’ among others. Other faculty members also shared their views on opportunities for allround development of a girl child. Media Cell In-charge Rachna Rashmi, Bina Mahato, Madhu Sharma, Binay Singh Shandilya, Jayshree Singh, Madhuri Kumari, Ganesh Mahato, Debopriya Sarkar were among those present on the occasion. The votre of thanks was offered by Bhavya Bhushan.
