Srinath University NSS unit leads cleanliness drive at Domuhani River Bank

Jamshedpur, Oct 6: The NSS Unit of Srinath University, Jamshedpur, undertook a cleanliness initiative at the Domuhani River Bank in Sonari under the nationwide campaign “Swachh Utsav – Swachhata Hi Seva 2025.” The drive aimed to clean the immersion site after Durga Puja and spread awareness about sustainable waste management and environmental responsibility.

Led by NSS Coordinator Shalini Ojha, the campaign saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members Meghnath Mahato, Sumit and Chandan Kumar, along with numerous NSS volunteers. Volunteers collected plastic, floral remains and other debris left after idol immersion, ensuring proper waste disposal at designated points. They also interacted with local residents, urging them to adopt eco-friendly practices and refrain from dumping waste into the river.

Shalini Ojha highlighted that cleanliness was a way of life, emphasizing that such initiatives instilled responsibility, service and sustainability among students. Meghnath Mahato, Sumit and Chandan Kumar praised the volunteers’ dedication and noted the vital role of youth in realizing the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The volunteers also held an awareness rally with slogans such as “One Step Toward Cleanliness” and “Clean River, Healthy Life.” Appreciating the initiative, local residents pledged their support for future drives. The university administration lauded the NSS Unit’s commitment to fostering a cleaner, greener and more responsible nation.
