Spiralling crime graph in Jamshedpur

Dipping public confidence put police in negative light

Spurt in crime graph raise questions on police efficiency

Jamshedpur, April 30: Despite lockdown the Steel City is fast transforming into a crime city with shooting, arson, looting and murder finding regular mention in print and electronic media. The citizens have started questioning the alertness of the district police. The claims of the police have failed to impress the denizens who have been witnessing daylight incidents of crime at regular intervals for the past few weeks.

The gang rivalry among various factions of the crime world has virtually taken the otherwise peaceful industrial town by scalding storm which puts public confidence in the system in negative light.

Mango and Baghbera, the two ends of the city that are densely populated have emerged as the most unsafe zones with roughly ten shootout incidents taking place in the last one and half month period within which six casualties have been reported so far.

Crimes related to gang rivalries have not only left citizens worried and scared but seem to have taken even the police administration by surprise as recent incidents show. Todays incident of the Mango killing is a link in the chain of criminal upsurge. Following the incident of gang war in the city, the police are taking no chances and have launched intensive vehicle checks at almost all city check points.
