Jamshedpur: DAV Public School, Bistupur, hosted a vibrant cultural event under the aegis of SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth), captivating 717 students from Classes IX to XII with the magic of Indian classical music.

The highlight of the event was a spellbinding jugalbandi featuring Santoor Maestro Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, a Sangeet Natak Awardee and India’s Global Music Ambassador, and tabla virtuoso Jyotirmay Roychowdhury, an A-Grade artist of Prasar Bharati. Pandit Bhattacharya, known for creating Hindustani classical Ragas like Raag Ganga and Raag Tribeni, inspired by the Swachh Ganga Abhiyan and the confluence of rivers Ganga and Yamuna, enthralled the audience with his mastery. Roychowdhury, a disciple of Ustad Zakir Hussain and a Gold Medalist in Music, added rhythmic brilliance to the performance.

The duo presented Ragas Tintal and Natabhairavi, leaving students spellbound and offering a rich glimpse into India’s cultural heritage.
Principal and ARO Pragya Singh expressed her gratitude to the artists and SPIC MACAY, emphasizing the need to appreciate traditional art forms in today’s fast-paced world. She encouraged students to immerse themselves in the beauty of classical music, which she said enhances one’s appreciation for life.
The event showcased SPIC MACAY’s dedication to nurturing a connection between young minds and India’s classical music legacy.
