Speeding Truck Crashes into Bank in Sakchi, Major Tragedy Averted, Driver Critically Injured

A major accident was narrowly averted in Jamshedpur on Thursday after a speeding truck lost control and rammed into a roadside Kotak Bank branch in the Sakchi police station area, leaving the driver critically injured and causing extensive damage to the bank building.

The incident occurred during the day when the truck, reportedly travelling at high speed, veered off the road after the driver allegedly lost control. The heavy vehicle crashed into the front portion of the bank building with tremendous force, triggering panic among bank employees, customers and passers-by.

Eyewitnesses said the impact was so severe that parts of the building were damaged, and people rushed out of the premises fearing further collapse. The accident created chaos in the busy commercial locality, drawing a large crowd within minutes.

A major tragedy was avoided as the security guard stationed near the bank’s ATM escaped unhurt. Had there been more customers near the entrance or around the ATM at the time of the crash, the consequences could have been far more severe, local residents said.

The truck driver sustained critical injuries in the collision. Local residents and bystanders rushed to his rescue and shifted him to a nearby hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition was reported to be serious.

Soon after receiving information, Sakchi police reached the accident site, secured the area and regulated traffic to prevent further congestion. A crane was deployed to remove the heavily damaged truck from the bank premises and restore normal vehicular movement on the road.

Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Officials are examining whether overspeeding, a mechanical failure or another factor led to the driver losing control of the vehicle. The extent of structural damage to the bank building is also being assessed.
