Encounter in Mango: Police Intercept and Arrest Main Accused ‘Sabbe’ in Rahul Baccha Murder Case

Jamshedpur: In a dramatic escalation, the Jamshedpur Police neutralized an armed threat in the Mango area following a fierce encounter with Saheb Singh alias Sabbe at Forest Ground Road No. 15. Sabbe is the prime accused in the brutal daylight murder of local youth Rahul Kumar alias Rahul Baccha.

The gunfight erupted when a special police tracking team cornered the suspect, who opened fire on the officers in a desperate attempt to evade arrest.

Retaliatory Fire and Arrest

Acting on a specific tip-off regarding the movement of the absconding criminal, a police team barricaded a strategic route in Mango. Upon realizing he was encircled, Sabbe drew a firearm and fired multiple rounds at the police force.

Adopting defensive protocols, the police team returned fire in self-defense. Sabbe sustained a bullet injury during the exchange, effectively bringing the brief gunfight to an end. He was immediately disarmed, taken into custody, and rushed under heavy police guard to a local hospital for medical treatment. Law enforcement officers recovered the weapon used against the police at the scene.

The Backstory: The Brutal Slaying of Rahul Baccha

The encounter comes on the heels of the gruesome murder of Rahul Baccha, a resident of Gurudwara Basti in Mango. Rahul was ambushed near Munshi Mohalla on Dimna Road by an aggressive mob of nearly a dozen assailants. The attackers initially assaulted him with sharp weapons (chapar) and bricks before firing multiple close-range shots into his head, leaving him dead.

According to police investigations, the murder was the culmination of a bitter, six-month-old animosity rooted in a complex love triangle involving a local woman. The rivalry had reached a boiling point half a year prior when Rahul had allegedly pulled a gun on Sabbe—an incident that was temporarily de-escalated by local intervention.

Law and Order Reassured

The murder had sparked intense panic and outrage across Mango, forcing the administration to deploy additional personnel and the Quick Response Team (QRT) to manage public anger.

Senior police officials confirmed that with the main conspirator Sabbe now neutralized and behind bars, raids are actively continuing across the district to apprehend the remaining 10 to 15 accomplices involved in the initial mob lynching and shooting. Further interrogation of the injured suspect will commence once he is declared medically fit.
