Ranchi, April 14: Those spreading any kind of rumor on social media on the occasion of Ram Navami will be sent to jail. Jharkhand Police has issued guidelines regarding this.
Jharkhand Police spokesperson cum IG Operation Amol Venukant Homkar said that keeping in mind Ram Navami, the maximum focus will be on social media across all districts.
A social media monitoring cell has been created. The monitoring cell is completely hi-tech. Information coming from different districts of the state will be collected in the control room located at the headquarters. During the festival, there are many elements who try to increase communal tension in the society so as to spoil the atmosphere. The police is not going to leave such elements.
He informed that SSP, SP and DC of all the districts of the state have been directed to share the guidelines issued by their respective social media cells with the people as well as Mahaviri Akharas and other peace committees.
The monitoring cell that has been created to keep an eye on social media is quite high-tech. For example, if someone makes a message viral from an unknown server, its information will immediately be given to the cyber team through the monitoring cell. Different teams have been formed for different wings of social media. Platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook and X are being monitored.
Jharkhand Police spokesperson IG Amol Venukant Homkar said that more than a dozen instructions have been issued to the DCs and SPs of the districts regarding social media. They have been instructed to put up signs related to social media at major intersections of the city and also issue helpline numbers.
According to IG Amol Homkar, many types of messages are spread to spread rumors in the society. In such a situation, an appeal has been made to the common people to immediately call the police control room or their local police station and give this information, talk to the police about the rumors going on social media and ask the police whether this information is correct. From this very moment the dangerous plans of social elements will fail.
Guidelines clearly states the person sending the message from one place to another is as guilty as the person creating the message.
