South Eastern Railway recovers Rs 1.10 lakh from ticketless travellers on Gitanjali, Steel Express

Jamshedpur: Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway conducted a special ticket checking drive on Saturday to curb ticketless and irregular travel, resulting in over Rs 1.10 lakh in fines.

Dedicated teams of ticket checking staff and Commercial Inspectors boarded Train No. 12814 (Steel Express) and Train No. 12860 (Howrah–Mumbai CSMT Gitanjali Express), identifying 47 passengers travelling either without tickets or on irregular ones. Penalties totalling Rs 36,980 were collected on the spot.

In another operation on Trains No. 12828, 12504 and 38815, 30 similar cases were detected, leading to fines worth Rs 73,900.

According to the railway authorities, multiple teams have been deployed to carry out such checks across different trains throughout the day. The division has stated that these drives will continue regularly to promote passenger discipline and ensure adherence to ticketing norms.

Kharagpur Division urged all passengers to cooperate and travel with proper and valid tickets, underlining the importance of maintaining the integrity of the railway system.
