Jamshedpur, July 20: As part of his nationwide cycling expedition to raise awareness about environmental conservation, young cyclist and environmentalist Rtn. Pappu Ram Choudhary from Rajasthan reached Jamshedpur on Monday. The members of Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Dalma and Rotaractors gave him a warm welcome and hosted him at Hotel Boulevard. His expedition, titled Shakti Sankalp Safar, aims to inspire action for environmental protection, and in 2026, he plans to scale Mount Everest and hoist the Indian and Rotary flags at its summit.

A native of Nagaur district in Rajasthan, Choudhary began his solo cycle journey on April 25, 2023. Since then, he has covered over 35,000 kilometers across 17 states and 6 union territories, including Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, Odisha, and the southern states. He is on a mission to plant one lakh saplings and has already planted more than 21,000 trees during his journey.
Speaking about his journey, Choudhary said, “I am cycling across India with the aim of spreading awareness about environmental conservation. Wherever I go, I plant trees and engage with local communities. The final goal is to reach the Everest Base Camp and ultimately hoist the national flag atop Mount Everest in 2026.”
Choudhary’s efforts have also set him on a path to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cycling journey within a single country. He recently passed through Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and now Jharkhand, where he continues his plantation drive.
Rotarians in Jamshedpur commended his unwavering dedication to service and environmental awareness. “It’s an honour to support someone with such passion and vision. His journey is not just about physical endurance but about a powerful message for the planet,” said a member of Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Dalma.
Choudhary now heads to Northeast India before proceeding towards Nepal’s Everest Base Camp.
