Jamshedpur: There is no end to snatchings in the city. In the latest case, a 70-year-old woman was targeted by some snatchers on Monday. Three unidentified men on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain from Mamita Chatterjee while she was walking near her house in evening.

Mamita, a resident of F Road, West Layout, Sonari had gone for evening walk on Monday at around 4 pm when miscreants targeted her and snatched gold chain from her and also pushed her after which she fell on the ground and was injured.

Mamita’s son Debashish Chatterjee said, ‘My mother is regular evening walker and while she was walking just 100 meters away from the residence under Sonari Police Station, lost her gold chain to unidentified miscreants. They also pushed her as a result, my mother suffered injuries. She is undergoing treatment at TMH’.

State food and civil supplies minister and MLA Saryu Rai and Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato expressed concern over deteriorating law and order in steel city.

It has often been observed that burglars keep a watch to fix their target in a housing colony or society before committing crimes. Areas like Sakchi, Bistupur main road, railway station, Kadma Sonari link road are more prone to such cases. The gang ride up to the victim in their motorcycle and ask for directions. At a convenient time they commit the crime and flee the scene.
