Jamshedpur: Students from the School of Engineering and Technology, Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, visited Hindustan Copper Limited’s Musabani Concentrator Plant on December 5, for an industrial exposure tour.
The visit aimed to familiarise students with real-time mining and metallurgical operations.
They learnt about the scientific refining and enrichment of copper ore sourced from Surda, Rakha and other mines, along with the processes involved in obtaining high-purity copper.
HCL officials—including Deputy General Manager J.P. Mishra, Senior Officer M.Z. Khan and Electrical Department’s Shweta Kumari—explained plant operations such as crushing, grinding, flotation, quality control and mandatory safety practices.

The team also highlighted industrial work culture and essential safety protocols.
The tour offered practical insights into mining, mechanical, electrical and process engineering, enhancing students’ technical understanding and awareness of future career opportunities in the industrial and technological sectors.
The visiting team was accompanied by Engineering Department Head Pooja Tiwari, Mechanical Department Head Vinay Prakash Choudhary, and Training & Placement Cell representatives Siddhant Kumar and Dr. Neelmani Kumar.
