Jamshedpur: Karwa Chauth celebrations turned sour as son of a Bistupur-based beer bar, Ravi Sonkar (30) was killed in a road mishap near Kadma-Sonari Link Road on the Airport Road under Bistupur police station area late last night.
Ravi who was a resident of Gurudwara Bustee in Bistupur was killed on the spot as his car hit a tree after hitting a road divider.
Some passers-by rushed the victim to Tata Main Hospital, but the doctors on emergency duty declared him as brought dead.
Ravi was the youngest of the three sons of Kallu Sonkar, owner of Geetanjali Beer Bar. He was killed at a time when his wife Puja was waiting for him at her home for performing rituals of “Karwa Chauth.”
According to information, Ravi who was father of two daughters, met with an accident while he was moving towards Sonari for meeting his girl-friend. Incidentally, the girl-friend had also reached the spot of mishap as she was reportedly coming in an auto-rickshaw for meeting Ravi.
Kallu Sonkar said they have doubt in the role of Ravi’s girl-friend in the tragic death of his son and he would lodge a formal FIR with the Bistupur police station in this regard later on.
Acting OC, Bistupur police station, MA Khan confirmed about the mishap death of Ravi Sonkar following his car hit a tree on the Airport Road.
” We are investigating the mishap. Ravi’s body has been sent to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem after a statement from Kallu Sonkar, the victim’s father. We expect an FIR from Sonkar but as of now we have not receive in writing anything,” said the acting OC.
After Ravi was taken to Tata Main Hospital, his family members, including wife had reached there. On seeing the victim’s girl friend at the hospital, his wife Puja had shouted at her and alleged that she was responsible for the death of her husband.
