Jamshedpur: Son Arrested for Killing Father Inside Tayo Colony Flat in Gamharia

Jamshedpur: A gruesome incident shocked residents of Gamharia on Tuesday evening after a man allegedly murdered his own father inside their residential flat at Tayo Colony. The crime occurred in GF Flat No. 2 under the jurisdiction of the Gamharia police station, triggering fear and outrage in the locality.

The victim was identified as Ramanath Das (55), who worked at the Tisco Growth Shop in Gamharia and had recently retired under the Early Superannuation Scheme (ESS).

Brutal Attack Inside Home

According to preliminary police information, the incident took place between 4 pm and 5 pm when the victim’s son, Mansa Das, allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon. The accused is said to have struck his father repeatedly on the head and other parts of the body with extreme violence.

Police sources described the assault as exceptionally brutal. The victim’s face was reportedly severely disfigured, and his body was found lying naked inside the room. His private parts were also found mutilated, adding a deeply disturbing dimension to the crime.

Accused Arrested at the Spot

Following information about the incident, Sameer Kumar Sawaiya, along with the Gamharia police team, rushed to the spot. The accused son was arrested from inside the flat soon after.

The body was taken into police custody and sent for post-mortem examination, while forensic teams initiated further legal and scientific procedures at the crime scene.

Troubled Family Background

Family sources said Ramanath Das’s wife had passed away earlier. His daughter is married, while his son is also married but lives separately from his wife due to ongoing family disputes. At the time of the incident, the father and son were living alone in the Tayo Colony flat.

Mobile Gaming Angle Under Probe

The brutal murder has left residents of the colony shaken. Locals claimed that the accused was addicted to mobile gaming and had earlier made a suicide attempt by jumping from a rooftop. Investigators are examining whether exposure to violent or disturbing content through mobile games played any role in influencing the accused’s behaviour, though police said this angle is still under investigation.

Investigation Ongoing

Police have launched a detailed probe to establish the exact motive behind the killing and are questioning the accused from multiple angles. Officials said further details would emerge after the post-mortem report and forensic analysis.

The shocking nature of the crime has plunged the entire area into disbelief, with residents demanding strict action in the case.
