Ranchi: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections in 2024, the State Election Commission has announced the commencement of a social audit for polling stations across the state. The initiative, spearheaded by Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar, aims to identify and address any deficiencies or gaps in the existing facilities at polling stations.
Under the directives of CEO K Ravi Kumar, efforts have been set in motion to ensure the availability of necessary facilities at all polling stations in the state. To assess the current status of essential amenities in Jharkhand’s polling stations, a third-party social audit will be conducted with the assistance of the Social Audit State Unit.
The social audit is expected to be completed by the upcoming month of February, following which a comprehensive plan will be implemented to rectify any identified gaps or deficiencies within a month’s time.
Present at the announcement were Chief Electoral Office OSD Geeta Choubey, Under Secretary Devdas Dutta, Deputy Electoral Officer (Headquarters) Sanjay Kumar, Under Election Officer Sunil Kumar Singh, Branch Officer Dheeraj Kumar, and Social Audit Unit Coordinator Haldhar Mahato, along with other leaders of the social audit team in the state. The team, formed for this crucial task, stands ready to contribute to the effective conduct of the social audit and subsequent improvements to enhance the overall electoral process in the state.
