Mahatma Gandhi Honored on Martyrs’ Day at Sant Nandlal Smriti Vidya Mandir

Jamshedpur: On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day (Shaheed Diwas) on January 30, 2026, Sant Nandlal Smriti Vidya Mandir (SNSVM) paid a soulful tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

The commemorative ceremony began with the offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. Leading the homage was School Manager Shobha Ganeriwal, Principal Dr. Srinibas Mishra, Academic In-charge S.R. Dutta, and Co-academic In-charge Sandhya Mishra. They were joined by Physical Education Head Indra Kumar Roy, Deputy Co-academic In-charges Sayoni Das and Gurdeep Kaur, along with Saikat Kumar Roy, Sayantan Ray, Biswajit Seat, and Prakash Mahata.

Addressing the assembly, Principal Dr. Srinibas Mishra emphasized that Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of truth, non-violence, and sacrifice remain as relevant today as ever. He encouraged students to move beyond textbooks and adopt Bapu’s ideals in their daily lives to build a better society. The students and faculty took a collective pledge to assimilate these Gandhian values into their character.

Following the National Anthem, the entire school family, including all teachers and students, observed a two-minute silence at 11:00 AM to honour the memory of the Mahatma and all the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation’s freedom.
