Jamshedpur: The Primary Wing of Sant Nandlal Smriti Vidya Mandir (SNSVM) transformed into a hub of emotional connection on January 30, 2026, as it hosted its annual Grandparents Day. The event was designed to honour the irreplaceable role of elders in the lives of the younger generation, bridging the gap between past and future with a vibrant display of respect and affection.
The morning began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by distinguished guests Shri Rajkumar Pandey, Subodh Singh, and Sadhana Paul, alongside School Administrator Shobha Ganeriwal and Principal Dr. Srinibas Mishra. Also in attendance were Management Committee Member R.G. Chaumal, Academic In-charge Satyaranjan Dutta, and Primary In-charge Sujata Verma.
As the grandparents arrived, they were greeted with traditional tilak ceremonies and presented with personalized handmade cards crafted with care by their grandchildren.
Principal Dr. Srinibas Mishra addressed the audience, emphasizing how the wisdom and presence of elders act as a guiding light for students. Special guest Subodh Singh spoke about family values and performed a soulful song dedicated to the elders.
The cultural segment showcased a wide range of student talents. Students of LKG and UKG delivered a colourful performance, while older students from classes 3 to 5 staged a poignant short play and a series of cultural dances. These performances were specifically curated to illustrate the depth of the familial bond.
In a departure from traditional school events, the program included interactive sessions such as a quiz, recreational games, and a highly anticipated Ramp Walk for the grandparents. This segment was judged by Anandita Dey, Soma Brahma, and Farzana Parveen. The winners received prizes amid thunderous applause. The school also honoured the visiting elders with shawls, mementos, and fruit baskets as tokens of appreciation.
The event was coordinated by student anchors Saikrishna Vishayi and Navneet Murmu, under the guidance of the Primary Wing faculty. A dedicated photo session allowed families to capture these rare moments together before the day concluded.
