Smart 21 Campaign: Tata Steel MD visits Mid-Day meal kitchen

Jamshedpur, June 20: Tata Steel today conducted a review in the R D Bhatta Community centre showcasing the initiatives undertaken by the Corporate Social Responsibility department for the local community.

The review was undertaken by T V Narendran, MD, Tata Steel, India and SEA. The progarmme started with Mr Narendran�s visit to Mid-Day Meal Kitchen which caters to the government scheme of providing mid day meals to almost 400 schools around the Saraikela & Kharsawan districts around Jamshedpur.

This will be followed by two reviews on enhancing the employability of youth, the Tata Business Support training centre where youth are imparted vocational training for call centers and Apparel Design Textile Centre where young women are trained for professional fashion houses. The event concluded with a tree plantation drive along with the volunteers present on the occasion.

As a part of Smart 21 campaign, T V Narendran is reviewing the Sustainability plans of the key divisions of Tata Steel, visit sites to check the status of the Sustainability projects in Environment, Safety and CSR areas and engage with employees and stakeholders to understand their issues.

Tata Steel is celebrating the month of June as �Tata Sustainability Month�, a Tata Group initiative under which various initiatives are being undertaken. Tata Steel�s theme for this month is resource efficiency and sustainable consumption and production as captured in the slogan �Conserve to Preserve�.

The overarching theme of the Tata Sustainability Month (TSM) is SMART 21 (Sustainable Meaningful Actions for a Responsible TATA), where 21 stand for the 21 days theory of habit formation and behavior as known in motivation circle.
