Skeleton found in Jamshedpur, forensic probe ordered

Jamshedpur, July 13: A human skeleton was found in the Sopodera-Shantinagar area under Parsudih police station on Monday morning, creating panic among local residents. The discovery was made at a secluded spot, following which a large number of villagers gathered at the site.

The police were informed immediately after suspicious remains were noticed buried in the soil near a drain in Shantinagar. A team from Parsudih police station, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Avinash Kumar, was dispatched to the spot. The skeletal remains were recovered and taken into police custody for further investigation.

According to the police, the body had completely decomposed and only bones were found at the scene. It was stated that, due to the advanced stage of decomposition, it could not be determined during the preliminary examination whether the skeleton belonged to a man or a woman. The age of the deceased also could not be established at this stage.

It was informed that the skeletal remains would be sent to a forensic laboratory for scientific examination. The identity of the deceased, the cause of death, and the time since death are expected to be determined only after the forensic report is received.

The police said that no conclusions would be drawn until the forensic findings are available. As part of the investigation, records of missing persons reported at Parsudih police station and nearby police stations are being examined to establish the identity of the deceased. Any possible link between the recovered skeleton and previously registered missing cases is also being verified.

The area where the skeleton was found has been inspected, and evidence from the spot has been collected. Further investigation is being carried out by the police. More details are expected to emerge after the forensic examination and verification of missing persons records are completed.
