Jamshedpur, Jan. 6: Art-In-Industry, an art camp cum exhibition and the inaugural event of Tata Steel Odisha Utsav 2016, was inaugurated on January 5 at Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar.
The event was inaugurated by Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister, Industries, School and Mass Education, Govt of Odisha, in the presence of renowned artist and native of Odisha, Jatin Das, P K Jena, Principal Secretary, Water Resources, Govt of Odisha and Chanakya Chaudhary, Group Director, Corporate Communication & Regulatory Affairs, Tata Steel.
The art camp is aimed at promoting and celebrating the pursuit of art by amateurs, professionals and budding young students by bring everyone on a common platform to learn, discuss and practice art.
Sixteen renowned artists of India will showcase their masterpiece in this three days long camp. The highlights of the camp include workshop for art students, interaction with artists. The participation of local artists in the camp will allow the community to enjoy art from a specific region, opening a window to the way of life of the people of their own region.
Besides, school children chosen from across the state through Tata Steel Inter School Art Competition are also participating in the camp and will be learning from the masters and showcasing their talents. 50 art college students of Odisha are also participating in an art competition being organized on the occasion and will be part of the camp.
Lauding Tata Steel for its efforts towards promoting art and culture, Debi Prasad Mishra said, “We are happy to see that the leaders in making steel are also focusing on supporting art and literature by organizing such events. In Odisha, we have various beautiful forms of art be it Pattachitra, tribal art or any other’.
Jatin Das appealed to the participants to preserve the tradition of excellence in art and culture of this great land. Addressing the artists and the art lovers, he spoke highly about of artistic grandeur of Odisha and promised continued support of Tata Steel to such initiatives in the state in future.
Chanakya Chaudhury of Tata Steel reiterated the company’s longstanding commitment for strengthening the rich cultural tradition of the state through various initiatives including support to artists.
Art- Industry brings together renowned artists from all over the country at a common platform to share their talent and vivid imagination on canvas and display for the purpose of sharing knowledge, he added.
Artists participating in the camp include-Jatin Das, Vinod Sharma, Manas Jena, Helen Brahma, Bipin Martha, Gouranga Barik, Chandramani Biswal, Lalatendu Rath, Chandrasekhra Sethi, Das Murmu, Bikram Routray, Santosh Routray, Sangram Majhi, Ramaniranjan Sarangi, Baban Moharana and Ms Aliya Maryam.
