Jamshedpur : In a significant turn of events, six workers from Dumaria block in East Singhbhum district, who were involved in the Silkyara Tunnel accident in Uttarakhand, have been successfully rescued and brought to the district headquarters from Ranchi by the proactive efforts of the East Singhbhum district administration. The rescue operation, undertaken on the initiative of the Chief Minister, Jharkhand, culminated in the workers’ arrival in Ranchi late on Friday evening.
Under the explicit guidance of Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri, two officials from the Labor Department were dispatched to bring the workers to Ranchi. Upon their return to East Singhbhum district this afternoon, a felicitation ceremony was organized in the Collectorate Auditorium, where all six workers— Tinku Sardar, Gunadhar Nayak, Ranjit Lohar, Ravindra Nayak, Sameer Nayak, Bhuktu Murmu, and Mahadev Nayak—were congratulated and presented with body clothes and shawls.
Although the Governor couldn’t personally attend the ceremony in Baharagora, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner, along with Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar and Sub-Divisional Officer Dhalbhum Piyush Sinha, represented the Governor. Expressing their joy at the safe return of the workers, they conveyed the Governor’s acknowledgment.
District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner extended wishes for a bright future to all the workers, lauding their courage and patience in navigating the challenging situation. He emphasized that their safe return brings happiness to the entire community.
In adherence to the directives of the Honorable Chief Minister, Jharkhand, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner announced that the six workers would be integrated into various government welfare schemes. These initiatives include benefits from schemes like Abua Awas Yojana, Pension Scheme, Ayushman Card, Agricultural Equipment Benefit, Chief Minister Employment Generation Scheme, MNREGA Job Card, Chief Minister Livestock Scheme, Animal Shed Construction, and other eligible programs.
The workers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable Chief Minister and the state government for the encouragement and support received during the rescue operation and subsequent journey from Uttarakhand to Ranchi, and now back home. This event marks not only a successful rescue but also a testament to the collaborative efforts of the government and local administration in ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
