Jamshedpur : The district police has decided to convert six thana out-posts (TOPs) into model TOPs soon to ensure better policing in the district.

The senior SP, Anoop T Mathew will be monitoring the entire functioning.
Superintendent of police (city) Prashant Anand said that the idea is to ensure strict vigil and curb criminal activities. Initially six out of 40 existing TOPs into model TOPs.
“We have decided to provide modern facilities. The model TOPs will be equipped with all the modern amenities necessary for policing.
Equipped with walkie-talkie, the former army men, all members of Special Armed Police (SAP) will be patrolling on the bike and keep strict vigil on the anti-social elements in the areas falling under a model TOP,” said Anand.
The City SP said the model TOPs will be manned completely by the SAP jawans and an Army Subedar rank officer (retired) will function as the officer-in-charge of the model TOP.
Anand said they would embark on converting TOPs into model TOPs in at least two places within a week time and later the other TOPS will also be developed to be converted into the model TOP.
Deputy superintendent of police (headquarters-1) KN Mishra visited over a dozen TOPs for implementing the project. After a day-long inspection of the TOP, he finally selected the Kharangajhar TOP under Telco thana and Baridih TOP under Sidhgora thana to be fit for conversion into the model TOP.
” As per the requirement we have taken a call. We have decided to take Kharangajhar and Baridih TOP for conversion into the model TOP as there is adequate space for accommodating the SAP jawans and also running the model TOP.
We inspected the TOPs at Sonari, Mango, Golmuri, Bistupur and also Jugsalai police station areas, but none of them were suitable for converting into the model TOP,” said Mishra.
