Six persons from England reach Jamshedpur, create panic

COVID test conducted, advised isolation

Jamshedpur, Dec 26: Panic gripped the citizens and the administration when news came in of six persons from Britain had reached Jamshedpur. A special team was formed and the six persons were located at different places in the city. Two among them are Sonari residents, one is from Rahargora and one each stay at Mango, Agrico and Bistupur.

The district health team reached the residences of the six persons and took their samples including those of 34 persons who had come in contact with them. However the reports received late evening showed that they were all Corona negative and that was a breather for all citizens. Yet the district department is leaving nothing to chance and has directed those whose samples were collected to remain in home isolation for a week.

The six persons who arrived from Great Britain came between 11 and 20 December. District Surveillance Officer Dr Sahir Pal has appealed to all citizens to report arrival of persons from abroad to the authorities. He said to contain the pandemic people’s cooperation was essential. He stressed that those coming in from abroad should get their COVID tests done so that the viral disease’s growth could be contained.
