Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum district administration has kicked off high-priority preparations for the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls. In an administrative push to ensure an error-free, purged, and updated voters’ list, comprehensive training modules were rolled out on Monday for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and BLO Supervisors across the district.
The large-scale training sessions, hosted simultaneously at the Sidhgora Town Hall and RVS School in Dimna, focused strictly on equipping field personnel with the technical and legal protocols required to execute a seamless voter roll purification drive ahead of future elections.
Jharkhand Additional Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar monitored the session and asked the personnel to focus on eliminating inaccuracies in the voter data registry. The upcoming field campaign from June 30 to July 29, 2026, will also act as a voter awareness drive. Field teams will actively locate and register citizens turning 18, rectify misspelled details, and cleanly delete invalid names from the database to finalize a flawless directory.
Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 Timeline & Mandate
- The Core Objective: Absolute purification of the voter list—incorporating new eligible voters, correcting existing entries, and removing duplicate or deceased voters.
- Door-to-Door Campaign Window: June 30, 2026, to July 29, 2026.
- The Execution: Physical, household-level verification by BLOs using physical enumeration forms coupled with real-time digital tracking via the ECI’s online portal.
Door-to-Door Verification Crucial for Clean Voters’ List
Addressing the packed training assembly, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan emphasized that a transparent, completely accurate electoral roll serves as the bedrock of a healthy democratic process. He made it clear that the upcoming physical field verification leaves zero room for complacency.
“BLOs and supervisors are the direct links between the ECI and the public during this revision process. You must conduct the door-to-door voter verification with the utmost sincerity. Every single household within your designated polling area must be physically visited during the month-long campaign,” Ranjan ordered.
The Deputy Commissioner directed field officers to strictly manage the prescribed ECI forms, meticulously cross-verify applicant documents, and ensure that no eligible citizen is left out of the revised electoral roll.
