Singrauli police rescue abducted two-year-old girl from Jharkhand within 36 hours

Singrauli (IANS): Madhya Pradesh Police in Singrauli rescued a two-year-old girl from Jharkhand and returned her to her family within 36 hours of receiving an abduction complaint from the Baidhan Bus Stand.

The incident occurred on May 16. The girl’s father lodged a complaint at the Baidhan Police Station, explaining that he had been sleeping alongside his daughter at the bus stand when he woke up late at night to find her missing. After searching the area without success, the father suspected that an unidentified person had snatched his daughter.

Singrauli Superintendent of Police (SP) Shiayaz K.M. formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and deployed 10 separate teams—comprising around 150 police personnel—under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Roshni Patel.

“Given the gravity of the matter, we constituted an SIT and deployed ten teams to trace the missing girl,” SP Shiayaz K.M. said during a press conference on Tuesday. He added that the police sent urgent alerts to police stations across the district, neighbouring districts, and adjacent states.

The search teams scoured railway stations, bus stands, hospitals, dams, and riverbanks across Baidhan, Vindhyanagar, Morwa, Bargawan, and Mada. Investigators reviewed footage from roughly 200 CCTV cameras while officers plastered posters featuring the girl’s photo onto public spaces, auto-rickshaws, and buses. The department also disseminated the information across social media and local newspapers.

During a technical analysis of the CCTV footage, police spotted a man traveling with the toddler from Baidhan to Bilauji and onward toward Majan Mor. After questioning local bus and auto-rickshaw drivers, investigators identified the suspect as a resident of Masiato village in Jharkhand’s Latehar district.

“Immediately upon receiving this intelligence, we dispatched special police teams to Jharkhand. Officers apprehended the accused at his home and safely rescued the girl,” SP Shiayaz K.M. said.

The rescue team has safely handed the toddler back to her family.
