Jamshedpur, Jan 21: The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has achieved a significant milestone in its efforts to boost industrial development in Kolhan. A proposal to establish a rail coach assembly plant in the region has been submitted to the Jharkhand Government’s Industry Department by a reputed company. The news has been confirmed by various sources, including reports in local newspapers, much to the delight of the Chamber and the people of Jamshedpur.

Vijay Anand Moonka, President of the SCCI, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “This is a moment of pride for the Chamber as well as for the people of Jamshedpur. Our consistent efforts have borne fruit. The establishment of a rail coach assembly factory in Kolhan will not only contribute to the local economy but also bring the region to the forefront of industrial development.”

The SCCI has been at the forefront of advocating for the growth of Kolhan, particularly Jamshedpur. Moonka mentioned that the Chamber had been tirelessly urging the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Union Ministers to push for the establishment of large-scale government or public sector companies in the region. Such companies, according to Moonka, would create new markets and accelerate the pace of production for local industries. This would not only benefit Jharkhand but the entire country as well.

Last year, in April, a delegation from the SCCI met with the Honourable Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and requested the establishment of a company related to the manufacture of railway parts. The Minister had given assurances and the proposal now stands as a result of those efforts. The company has requested approximately 200 acres of land from the Jharkhand Government to set up the plant.

This development promises significant progress for Jamshedpur, generating employment opportunities and boosting the region’s economy. The establishment of a rail coach assembly plant will also contribute to increasing the revenues of both the state and central governments.

Manav Kedia, Honorary General Secretary of the Chamber and Puneet Kanwatia, Vice President, emphasized the urgency of the state government’s action to facilitate the land allocation. Kedia added, “The establishment of the plant will not only enhance industrial growth but will also open new avenues for entrepreneurs and businesses in the region.”

Chamber members, including Vice President Anil Modi, Advocate Rajiv Agarwal and others, have urged the Industry Department to take swift action on the matter and ensure that the proposed plant is set up in Kolhan. (w/nkm)
