Singhbhum Chamber urges passport officer to boost capacity in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Sep 11: A delegation from the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by President Vijay Anand Moonka, met Regional Passport Officer Manita K., IFS, in Ranchi to discuss delays at the Jamshedpur Passport Seva Kendra (PSK). Honorary General Secretary Manav Kedia revealed that applicants face significant delays, often waiting 15 to 30 days for an appointment, compared to quicker processing in other cities like Ranchi and Chaibasa.

The Chamber delegation urged the Passport Officer to increase the PSK’s capacity to handle more applications. Currently, the centre processes 90 applications per day, but many applicants do not show up for appointments, leading to inefficiencies. The Chamber stressed that raising public awareness would help resolve this issue.

In response, the Regional Passport Officer said the request for increased capacity would be considered. She also pointed out that reducing appointment delays requires both system improvements and greater applicant responsibility.
