Jamshedpur, May 3: A delegation from Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) met Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee’s Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar and submitted a memorandum requesting urgent improvements in Sakchi Market. Led by Chamber President Vijay Anand Moonka, the letter highlighted several concerns, including poor street lighting, deteriorating public toilets and rampant encroachment at key market entry points.
“The streetlights are either damaged or missing in many areas. New lighting is essential for better visibility and safety,” said Abhishek Agarwal ‘Goldie’, Vice President for Public Relations and Welfare. He also described the public toilet near the fruit market as “in a deplorable condition,” calling for immediate renovation and modernization.
The Chamber demanded removal of encroachments near Sakchi roundabout, Chaudhary Building and the entrance near Agarwal Book Store. Modernization of the iconic Bata Chowk was also emphasized. “We had a detailed discussion on the problems plaguing Sakchi Market and called for swift action,” said Moonka.
Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar assured the delegation that all issues raised would be addressed promptly. The memorandum was also sent to Jamshedpur East MLA Smt. Purnima Sahu.
