Jamshedpur, Dec 26: Kolhan’s largest traders’ outfit Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI) has opposed the Union government’s recent amendments to Goods and Service Tax (GST).
The chamber has decided to register protest at all forums against the amendments at an executive committee meeting held on Saturday under the chairmanship of SCCI president Ashok Bhalotia and termed the amendments as anti-traders and will only encourage ‘inspector raj’ and also increase burden on tax payers.
“We had welcomed the GST when it was implemented by the Union government believing the government claim that it will ease trading and make businessmen easy to operate their trade. However, daily amendments has only increasing burden on the traders and we will start a phasewise agitation against it,” said Ashok Bhalotia.
In the first step, the SCCI would write to the Union finance minister apprising about the problems faced by traders and also apprise the state tax secretary-cum-commissioner about the problems.
In the second step, a meeting would be held with all trader’s outfit of the region to chalk out a common strategy to fight against this amendments and also stage demonstration in front of Central GST and state taxation offices.
As per chamber authorities the amendments have been done in the GST section 36 (4) about ITC can be charged only five percent which will be reflected I GST return 3B and if any trader does not file GST-3B then GST-R will be blocked. There has also been amendment in the E-way bill (road permit) which used to give one day time for 100 kilometers which has been increased to 200 km.
