Jamshedpur, Dec 2: Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) vice president (Public Relations and Welfare) Mukesh Mittal has demanded free lodging facility for passengers in the first class AC waiting rooms at Tatanagar railway station. He has sent a letter to the General Manger of South Eastern Railway in this regard.

“Earlier, the passengers were provided free facility of staying in the first class AC waiting room at the station. Those who wanted to say in the special AC lounge were charged Rs 50 per hour. But a private agency is charging passengers at the rate of Rs 15 per hour for staying in the first class waiting rooms. This is not justified as it is the duty of the Railways to providing waiting room facility to passengers who are compelled to wait due to delay in arrival or departure of trains,” said Mittal.

Mittal said if the first-class AC passengers are made to wait at the railway platform, other passengers will face difficulty in boarding trains leading to overcrowding. He said the Railway should take note of the issue and resolve it in the larger public interest.
