Sikh Students Federation to Send 5K Letters to Railway Minister Over Train Delays

Jamshedpur: The All India Sikh Students Federation has announced a phased agitation against the Ministry of Railways to protest chronic train delays affecting the region. In the first stage of the protest, the federation plans to send approximately 5,000 letters to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, demanding immediate intervention to restore punctuality.

Satnam Singh Gambhir

Satnam Singh Gambhir, President (Eastern India) of the federation, expressed deep concern over the recurring delays of passenger trains arriving at Tatanagar Railway Station. He noted that for several months, trains have been running significantly behind schedule, causing severe hardship for both daily commuters and long-distance travelers.

Key Concerns Raised by the Federation

  • Administrative Inaction: Gambhir stated that multiple representations have been submitted to the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Chakradharpur Division, but the situation has not improved.

  • Revenue vs. Service: The federation highlighted that Tatanagar Railway Station generates an annual revenue of approximately ₹100 crore, yet passenger convenience remains neglected by the authorities.

  • Future Escalation: Gambhir warned that the agitation will intensify in subsequent phases if the Railway Ministry fails to implement a permanent solution for timely train operations.

The federation has called for urgent corrective measures and increased accountability, asserting that passengers in a high-revenue-generating region deserve reliable and punctual services.
