Sikh Federation seeks action against TV channel

Jamshedpur: Members of All India Sikh Students Federation, Eastern India, demanded stern action against the officials of Sab TV for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community by airing �objectionable� content in one of their popular serials �Tarak Mehta Ka Ultah Chashma�.

The outfit president Satnam Singh Gambhir alleged that the channel authorities had hurt Sikh sentiments by showing one of the serial�s characters as playing the role of the tenth Sikh guru, Guru Govind Singh. He said no one was allowed by the Sikh religion to play the role of the Sikh guru. He said the channel had deliberately hurt the Sikhs and tried to provoke them under a conspiracy.

Gambhir appealed to Sikh leaders to take necessary action aganst the guilty persons. Other Federation members also demanded that the government should take legal action against the culprits.
