Jamshedpur: After the police arrested uncle and nephew for killing a four-year-old girl after her rape in Sidhgora, members of Sikh community met the senior superintendent of police and demanded strict punishment to the two accused, at the earliest.
A delegation led by Shailendra Singh, vice-president , Patna Saheb Gurudwara Committee’s Jamshedpur unit met the senior SP, Anoop T Mathew and requested him to ensure that the two murder accused who have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of the child must be given capital punishment so that it may work as a deterrent for other criminal-minded people.
The Sikh community delegation also pressed the senior SP to ensure that the parents of the murder and rape victim be given adequate financial compensation as they are very poor.
The senior SP has assured the delegation that justice will be done with the bereaved family and the two accused who are presently lodged in Ghaghidih Central Jail will be convicted very soon.
The police arrested Sunny Gope (20) and Niraj Gope (28), both nephew and uncle and residents of Sidhgora for allegedly raping and killing four-year-old girl. Her body was taken out from a pond in Sidhgora on Friday.
Mathew said that the rape and murder of the four-year-old child was result of enmity between Niraj Gope and the victim’s father Kasmira Singh.
Mathew said Niraj Gope who is married and father of two children was a tenant at the house of Kasmira Singh at Fouja Bagan in Sidghora.
He said on August 15, Kasmira who is a truck driver had forcibly evicted Niraj Gope and his family as he had not paid rent for the past two years, leading Niraj to threat Kasmria with dire consequence.
According to the senior SP, on August 16, Niraj’s nephew Sunny who would stay at some other place in Sidhgora picked up the child from near her house. The senior police officer said after an hour of the rape, Niraj came to the empty quarter and strangulated the girl. Subsequently they dropped it in the water-body.
Mathew assured the delegates that they would pursue the investigation into the gruesome murder by giving utmost attention so that necessary evidence to the prosecution be provided for the conviction of the accused.
Shailendra Singh, while talking to the newsmen said that they would organise a candle-light procession from the victim’s house at Fausa Bagan in Sidhgora to the water-body in the evening today.
