‘Shorts’ kickstarts to a full house, 10 films screened

Jamshedpur: SHORTS – the annual short film festival of Jamshedpur opened to a full house at Centre for Excellence on Saturday.

The 11th Shorts was inaugurated by Govind Sharan, Head, Naval Tata Hockey Academy in presence of Senior Manager CC and CFE Merlyn F Anklesaria, Tathagata Bhattacherjee the COO of Take5 Communications, Kolkata and actor and journalist Goutam Shankar Das.

Ten short films by the professional and budding film makers from Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Dhanbad and Jamshedpur were screened on first day.

Audience witnessed films ranging from 4 minutes to 30 minutes, on subjects like women empowerment, water conservation, road safety, noise pollution, old age crisis, menstrual health, cleanliness, humanity to name a few, in Hindi, English, Bengali, Santali and Nepali languages. Many of these films have travelled to National and Intentional Film Festivals.

This blend of new and experienced film makers has been the USP of the festival which has attracted the film buffs of Jamshedpur year after year towards this festival, said Tathagata Bhattacherjee the COO of Take5 Communications.
19 films will be screened on the concluding day of the festival.

It was emphasized that ‘Shorts’ occupies a worthy place among the cine lovers of Jamshedpur, and the fact that this year works from more than 100 professional and budding film makers were sent to the festival speaks about its significance.
