SHORTS 2025 Jamshedpur: 18 years of Cinematic Food for Thought

SHORTS, the Annual Short Film Festival of Jamshedpur completed 18 years of its creative journey. Since its inception in 2008, the Film Festival over the years have upgraded itself and has become one of the most awaited Events of the Steel City.

Centre for Excellence (CFE) was packed to capacity in the evenings of November 29 and 30 with the Festival Audience of Jamshedpur enjoying the twenty two short films that were screened in the span of two days. The films of duration 3 minutes to 29 minutes were in English, Hindi, Bengali and some were Silent Films. The Films were from Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Jamshedpur and one International Film from France.

Eminent Entrepreneur of Jamshedpur Ronald D’Costa graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Purabi Ghosh, Social & Cultural Activist, was the Guest of Honour. Senior Theatre & Film Actor Sidhhartha Sen anchored the Event both the days.

All the twenty two films were thought provoking and carried a social message. However, E CODE (Vevek Upadyay), SARVABHUTESHU (Dona Roy), FAT (Tathagata Chowdhury), RUN TURTLE RUN (Mini Pandey), MONSTER (Abhishek Ganguli), BHANWAR (Gurpreet Singh) and PAITKAR (Sourabh Suman Jha) need special mention.

An added attraction to the Event was Special Screenings of two significant Documentaries, one on the 50 years of Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital (MTMH) directed by Tathagata Bhattacherjee and the other titled ‘Jharkhand Election – the inside story’ directed by Vevek Upadyay.

Apart from the Film Screenings, Special Lectures on the Film Festival were delivered by Dr. Neha Tiwari, Rajani Shekhar, Hari Mittal, Krishna Sinha, Md. Nizam and Mondrita Chatterjee.

The Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE), Tata Steel and Take 5 Communications, Kolkata as organizers of the film festival are upbeat that next year, the festival would be bigger and better with a touch of style and loads of soul, as always.
