Shops gutted in fire triggered by transformer

Jamshedpur: Property worth several thousand was gutted in a fire that broke out at Dimna Road, Mango. The fire was caused by sparks in a transformer near Olidih OP. The transformer was recently repaired and installed.

When power supply was resumed, the transformer started giving sparks. Soon flames came out of the transformer and took the shops situated nearby in its spate.

The shops were charred in the incident. Goods kept inside caught fire in no time. Local residents tipped off fire station officials about the mishap.

Soon fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the fire. The special officer of Mango Notified Area Committee Anil Yadav said another shop of cement was also affected in the fire, though only partially.

He said the fire was finally controlled by the efforts of the fire officials.
