Shooting incident at Jamshedpur’s Gudri Bazar result of gang-war

Jamshedpur: The shooting incident that took place in Gudri Bazar near Tatanagar station under Bagbera thana area last night was a result of gang-war between two gangs.

The 35-year-old man, Santosh Gupta, who was shot at had nothing to do with the gangwar and was injured at the marketplace.

A resident of Gaur Bustee in Mango, Santosh has been admitted at the MGM Medical College Hospital where he is recovering.The victim who is a salesman at a Jugsalai-based shop was operated upon around midnight.

“I was just having snacks at Gudri Bazar at about 8.30 pm, when I heard a noise following sounds of shots. Then I started running leaving my bike near the shop and told some of the bystanders to flee as firing was going on. But only then I started feeling pain in my legs. On seeing them bleeding and checking I realised that I had sustained bullet injury,” Santosh said.

OC, Bagbera Laxman Paswan confirmed that the firing was the result of gang-war between W Mishra and Ranjit-Sanjit gangs of Bagbera locality.

“As per our investigation Santosh Gupta who has sustained bullet injuries had nothing to do with the gangwar and he is innocent. The criminals belonging to W Mishra’s gang had fired shot at Ranjit-Sanjit’s father after abusing him.

We are trying to arrest W Mishra and those involved in the armed attack,” said Paswan.

According to sources, W Mishra who is considered to be a notorious criminal had enmity with Ranjit and Sanjit who are also emerging in the underworld.
Deputy superintendent police (law and order) Alok Ranjan said they are conducting raids to nab him.
