Jamshedpur, Dec 9: Gulmohur High School hosted its 48th Annual Sports Day on Friday. 9th December 2022. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dronacharya Awardee and archery coach at Tata Steel, Purnima Mahato, while the guest-of-honour was the General Manager BIW-TMCV, Manish Verma.
Highlights of the event included recognition and awards to students who won laurels for the school at the national level sports events. The students included Tiyasha Pangiyara (represented Jharkhand and Bihar State in the CISCE National Yoga championship in under 17 girls at Ranchi in September winning a silver medal in group and holistic yoga and declared Best in Yogasana. Tiyasha has selected to represent the CISCE Council Yoga team for the SGFI games.); Arpana Raj (represented Jharkhand and Bihar State in the CISCE National Taekwondo Championship at Ahmadabad bagging silver medal; also participated in the CISCE Regional Athletic Championship held at Ranchi and won a bronze medal in the 4×400 m relay event); Harshita (represented Jharkhand and Bihar State in the CISCE National Taekwondo championship at Ahmadabad where she won a silver medal); Roshan Kumar (represented the Jharkhand Bihar State in the CISCE National Basketball championship held at Tamil Nadu winning a bronze medal) and Sarthak Tiwary (gold medalist in the CISCE National Cricket Championship at Lucknow).
The Sports Day included drill performances by Primary students (1-5) on the theme ‘Happiness’ and by Upper Primary students (6-8) on the theme ‘ Yoga – a cultural pride of India’. Students also participated in several track and field events. All the winners were awarded medals and certificates.
