Jamshedpur, Nov. 23: Xavier School of Management (XLRI) is all set to hold the 24th annual JRD Tata Oration on Business Ethics on Tuesday. This year the keynote address will be delivered by Shekhar Gupta, chairman and founding editor of Mediascape Group, on the topic �Changing Role of Media in Today�s India.�
Fr. E Abraham, S. J. Director of XLRI, said in a press communiqu�, �XLRI has always placed on the forefront, the importance of pursuing an ethical code of conduct in the corporate world. We believe that no management education curriculum is really complete, unless and until the students are instilled with a set of abiding values – that are indispensable ingredients for any aspiring business leader in today�s world.�
�XLRI has been organizing the �JRD Tata Oration on Business Ethics� for our students to listen to their role models and leaders and understand the need and importance of ethics in business as well as inspire them to follow these ethical codes of conduct in their professional and personal lives.�, he added.
Notably, XLRI, in association with some of the members of the Tata Group (including Tata Steel and Tata Motors), established the JRD Tata Foundation in Business Ethics to mark their long-standing commitment and contribution to business ethics in India.
The first oration for ethics in business was delivered by JRD Tata himself and then there have been many, who have been sources of encouragement to the students of XLRI.
BBC correspondent Mark Tully, renowned historian Ramachandra Guha, Subroto Bagchi, COO, MindTree Consulting, Peter Eileen, founder and chairman of Transparency International, Germany, and Steven Snyder, the founder of Snyder Leadership Group in Orono, US, are some of the business leaders who have participated in the talk earlier.
