Shashi Tiwari elected president of St. Mary’s Alumni Association, trust launched at second AGM

Jamshedpur, July 28: The second Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the St. Mary’s English High School Alumni Association was held in Bistupur with great enthusiasm and unity among former students. During the event, the association also announced the formation of the St. Mary’s Alumni Trust and honoured top-performing students from the 2025 batch.

A key highlight of the AGM was the election of the new office bearers. Shashi Tiwari (Batch of 1979) was unanimously elected as the new President. A former Tata Tinplate employee with three decades of experience, Tiwari is an XLRI-trained HR professional and a trained mediator at the Jharkhand High Court. Amrita Dhanjal (Batch of 1998), a Human Resources professional and winner of the “Mrs. Jharkhand” title, was elected as Secretary. Chandrashekhar Kothari (Batch of 1990), a businessman in the automobile parts sector, was elected as Treasurer.

Outgoing President Gurusharan Singh extended his best wishes to the newly elected committee and expressed confidence in the association’s continued progress. Under his leadership, the alumni body had actively contributed to social causes, including education for underprivileged children and healthcare support.

School Principal Father Vernon D’Souza and Vice Principal assured the alumni of continued support and announced plans to provide office space for the association within the school premises. Father Vernon also appreciated the consistent support of Tata Steel, particularly in promoting community welfare through responsible corporate citizenship.
The meeting also marked the official introduction of the St. Mary’s Alumni Trust. Trustees Gurusharan Singh, Manjot Gill, Amrita Dhanjal, Preeti Saini, Animesh Bisoee, Chandrashekhar Kothari, along with newly appointed trustees Tejinder Marwa and Bipin Kashyap, were felicitated with flower bouquets.

In a gesture to encourage academic excellence, the alumni association honoured the school’s 2025 Science and Commerce stream toppers with mementos and kit bags, presented by Father Vernon.

Members including Mahendra Singh, Preetipal Singh, Madan Gupta, Ashwini Chhabra, Manmohan Sharma, G Chander, Jasbinder Kaur, Master Subli, and Maninder Singh played a key role in the success of the event.
